Mr. Nathan Wales serves as principal and teaches Math, History, Geography, and Science to grades K-8. He graduated in 2001 with a B.S. in Education from Immanuel Lutheran College in Eau Claire, Wisconsin and has over 20 years of teaching and administrative experience at the K-8 level. Mr. Wales received certification in South Carolina to teach online courses at the collegiate level via D2L Brightspace. In addition, he taught math and computer classes as an adjunct for six years at a technical college in South Carolina. Mr. Wales has a passion to instill the fundamentals of learning into each student, especially in the areas of math, history, and science. His personal interests include coaching, umpiring, and gardening.
Mrs. Debra Mayhew teaches Literature, Poetry, Classical Composition, Latin, Classical Studies, Spelling, Grammar, and Phonics to grades K-8. She has a degree from Immanuel Lutheran College and homeschooled her own children for 12 years. Debra also taught language arts at a homeschool academy in Lawrenceville, Georgia, and later served as a regular substitute teacher in Mankato, Minnesota. She has had several short stories and poems published in various anthologies and magazines, and is the editor of a Christian women’s magazine. Mrs. Mayhew enjoys finding creative ways to help students learn and looks for ways to infuse the truths of God’s Word into every subject. Her personal interests include reading, writing, and spending time with friends and family.
Mrs. Vanessa Wales teaches music and offers private piano lessons to students during the school day. She graduated in 1999 with a B.S. in Education from Immanuel Lutheran College in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and taught for 2 years in a K-8 one-room school in Watertown, South Dakota. For the past 20 years, Vanessa has run the music programs at our local parochial schools, along with teaching private lessons for piano and flute. She has also substituted as a music teacher for the Sleepy Eye Public School. Her personal interests include reading, crocheting, and attending the local sporting events.
Pastor Nathanael Mayhew took courses in both Education and Theology at Immanuel Lutheran College in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Pre-Theology in 1998. He went on to graduate from Immanuel Lutheran Seminary with a Master’s Degree in Theology in 2001. He is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Classical Education. Pastor Mayhew has a love for learning and education, especially in the fields of History and Theology, and enjoys passing on the truths of God’s Word and world to the next generation. He teaches Christian Doctrine, Bible History, Church History, Apologetics, Comparative Religions and Hymnology.
